The romantic comedy Meg & Ryan is set for a nationwide release on August 6, 2025, marking the first on-screen pairing of actors Rhian Ramos and JC Santos.
In the film, Ramos plays Meg Zamonte, a wealthy woman in her late 20s who hides a long-time drinking problem behind a carefree facade. JC Santos plays Ryan Cañete, a conservative 35-year-old draftsman who has never been in an intimate relationship and is quietly going through the early signs of a midlife crisis. He’s been heartbroken three times and has begun to believe he’s meant to be alone.
The story begins with a light-hearted bet that unexpectedly brings Meg and Ryan together. What starts as a game leads to a night that changes both of them and builds a deep emotional bond.
Santos has spoken openly about wanting to work with Ramos, praising her acting skills and her journey in the industry. Ramos, in turn, described Santos as a generous actor who brings out the best in their scenes.
The cast also includes Jeff Gaitan, Cris Villanueva, and Ces Quesada. Adding humor and a modern twist are social media personalities Poca and Steven Bansil.
The role marks Poca’s big-screen debut. He said the experience was new and overwhelming but shared how grateful he was for the support he received from fellow cast members. After a challenging audition, Poca felt a strong connection to the role, saying it felt as though the part had been written for him. This connection allowed him to collaborate closely with director Catherine Camarillo, offering personal insights to shape his character more authentically.
Filmed in 2023, Poca admitted he had moments of doubt about whether the film would ever be released. Now, with the premiere just weeks away, he’s excited for audiences to see his first movie alongside established stars Ramos and Santos.
Directed by Catherine Camarillo and produced by Pocket Media Productions, Meg & Ryan is her first solo feature under her own company. Camarillo is known for romantic dramas like Chances You and I and That Kind of Love, both released in 2024. The screenplay was written by Gina Marissa Tagasa, who drew inspiration for the title from Hollywood actress Meg Ryan, known for her popular romantic comedies.
