Sabon Express, a Filipino local brand led by CEO and Founder Ms. Mellany Zambrano, has introduced its latest innovation, the Blue Box, an automated refilling station designed to change the way Filipinos buy household cleaning products.
Launched during the 24th Anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Beneficiaries Association Inc. (BJMPBAI), the Blue Box aims to help households save money, reduce plastic waste, and offer business opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs.
A Practical Solution for Households
The Blue Box is the first fully-automated soap refilling machine in the country. It offers a smarter and more sustainable way to purchase laundry detergent, fabric conditioner, and dishwashing liquid. Instead of buying single-use sachets or bottles, customers can bring their own containers, choose a product, insert coins (₱5, ₱10, or ₱20), and refill based on their budget.
The process is simple and accessible in five easy steps:
Bring your own bottle
Select your product
Choose your amount
Insert coins
Refill and go
Zambrano said the Blue Box is designed to provide an alternative that is “not just sustainable, but also affordable and practical for everyday use.”
A Business That Works for People and the Planet
Beyond household use, the Blue Box presents a strong business opportunity, especially for individuals looking for a low-maintenance, community-focused venture. The machine can be placed in high-foot-traffic areas such as neighborhood stores, markets, or even outside homes, making it a viable micro-business.
As part of its advocacy, Sabon Express partnered with BJMPBAI to offer members the chance to start their own Blue Box business. According to Zambrano, 15 units have already been pre-ordered by BJMPBAI members, who can avail themselves of the machines at a discounted rate through financing options offered by the association.
It isn’t just about selling soap. It’s about building a system that helps families earn, save, and live sustainably.
Local Innovation with a Global Goal
Sabon Express is on a mission to make eco-friendly refilling accessible to all Filipino households, while also helping the country cut back on its dependence on single-use plastics. The Blue Box supports a circular economy by encouraging customers to reuse bottles and reduce packaging waste.
A Growing Vision
The Blue Box is available at Sabon Express’s physical store and will soon be seen in more communities nationwide. Zambrano said the goal is to make refill stations as common as sari-sari stores.
With rising consumer awareness on sustainability and the increasing need for budget-friendly solutions, Sabon Express’s Blue Box stands out as a local innovation with national impact, improving lives, protecting the environment, and supporting small business dreams, one refill at a time.
